The Limoncello Story
Limoncello began on Mill Road, Cambridge, with a simple aim: to bring the warmth and generosity of Italian food culture to the local community. What started as a neighbourhood deli has grown into a restaurant, delicatessen, and catering space known for authentic Italian ingredients and welcoming hospitality.We source from the regions that define Italian flavour - Parma, Liguria, Campania, Modena - combined with local touches like vine tomatoes from Hilary’s just across the road.
Limoncello is our way of sharing the Italy we love with Cambridge: honest food, thoughtful ingredients, and a place where people feel at home.
Meet the Owner
Limoncello is led by Luke, whose long-standing connection to Italy shapes the heart of the restaurant, deli, and catering experience.
Every year he travels across Italy to meet producers, explore regional dishes, and bring back ideas that keep Limoncello rooted in genuine Italian culture while evolving for the Cambridge community.
On a recent trip to Sorrento and Positano, Luke and our General Manager, Esse, visited local delis, workshops, and small studios - a journey that led them to the two handmade ceramic Limoncello bottles that now sit in the restaurant.
Our Food Philosophy
Our approach to food is guided by provenance, simplicity, and care. We work with regional Italian producers whose methods honour tradition - from Parma ham and Ligurian pesto to mozzarella di bufala from Campania and balsamic vinegar from Modena - while collaborating with trusted local suppliers here in Cambridge.
Whether you join us for a meal, pick up deli staples, or choose our catering, the aim is the same: honest ingredients, made with intention, served in a way that feels warm, welcoming, and unmistakably Italian.
From Deli to Dining
Limoncello has grown naturally from a much-loved Mill Road deli into a welcoming dining space that still carries the same spirit. Our shelves are lined with carefully curated Italian treasures - cured meats, regional cheeses, truffle oils, hand-crafted pasta, and sweet treats like biscotti and panettone. Many of these ingredients appear on our restaurant menu, where our chefs prepare classic Italian dishes made fresh every day.
